The lyricist, performer, and Bob hund singer Thomas Öberg receives this year's Hassepris. The prize is awarded by Helsingborgs Dagblad to a person who works in Hans Alfredson's humanistic spirit.
"Öberg is a wonderful storyteller and he has a rare perspective on the world, and an even rarer language to tell about it", says Helsingborgs Dagblad's cultural editor Johan Malmberg, one of the jury members who selected this year's prize winner, in a press release.
Thomas Öberg will receive the prize and a check for 50,000 kronor at Hasseplatsen in Helsingborg on May 10, and the event will continue at Helsingborg's city theater.
Previous recipients of the relatively newly established Hassepris are Uje Brandelius (2023) and Gabriela Pichler (2024).
Corrected: In an earlier version, there was an error about the nature of the prize.
