Bob Dylan Meets Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican for Private Audience

Bob Dylan had a private audience with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican on Wednesday. The 85-year-old singer wore a black hoodie.

Bob Dylan is currently on tour in Italy. According to the Vatican’s official news site, Vatican News, the meeting was brief and consisted of “a light conversation.”

The pope gave Dylan a rosary, and the singer, in turn, gave him his autobiography.

The first American pope appears to be a fan of Dylan, quoting a line from his poem “Go Away You Bomb” in the preface to a book on disarmament published earlier this year.

Leo, 71, has taken a clear stance against war and has clashed with US President Donald Trump after criticizing the wars in the Middle East.

Leo is not the first pope Dylan has met. In 1997, he sang at a prayer vigil for young people in Bologna, organized by John Paul II.
