Two people are missing since a boat capsized on Fjällsjöälven, about five miles northwest of Sollefteå.

On board the boat were four people.

One person has taken themselves ashore and was awake and able to speak, says Tomas Näsman, rescue leader on site, to Tidningen Ångermanland.

Besides that person, another person has been found, while two of those who were on the boat are still missing.

The sea rescue service initiated a major search effort late on Sunday afternoon with boats and helicopters. But shortly after 9 pm, the rescue service announced that they are dismantling the effort and handing over the case to the police.

We have made the assessment that due to water temperature and other factors, it is not possible to save them and that means two people are still missing, says Niklas von Essen, duty officer at the Rescue Service, to the newspaper.

One of the people found has been taken to hospital with as yet unknown injuries. The other is unharmed and has not needed to seek care, according to the police.
