The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has expressed his concern over the recent civilian casualties during a meeting with the Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, and the Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi, reports the news agency AFP.
Blinken is said to have stated during the meeting that the number of civilian casualties in Gaza is "unacceptably high", according to the US Department of State's spokesperson Matthew Miller.
The Israeli military has attacked several locations in Gaza in recent days, including refugee camps near Khan Yunis in southern Gaza. According to the Hamas-controlled Palestinian Health Department, more than 90 people were killed in the attack and over 300 were injured.
