The statue was discovered on Wednesday near the statue of Florence Nightingale and a memorial to the Crimean War, according to the BBC.

The name Banksy is written on the statue's base, and the shadowy street artist is now confirmed as the artist. A video on Instagram shows the statue being installed in the dark of night with the help of several workers and large machines.

In 2004, Banksy created the statue “The Drinker” as a paraphrase of Auguste Rodin’s “The Thinker.” “The Drinker” appeared on Shaftesbury Avenue in London, where it was quickly stolen by art activist Andy Link, who later demanded a ransom. Banksy never paid.
