At the end of the first half, Gent took the lead when Hyllarion Goore came in from the left and scored at the far post.
Goore celebrated by gesturing toward the blue-and-white supporters. This was met with loud boos, and Noah Tolf ran toward the Gent striker to confront him.
Tolf was stopped by several Gent players, and more players quickly joined the commotion before the situation calmed down.
The atmosphere didn't get any better when several decisions went against Blåvitt in the second half and both the crowd and the players went crazy. Blåvitt also failed to equalise.
The return leg will be played in Belgium on Thursday.
