For almost ten years, prosecutors have been investigating how many original drawings and sketches belonging to cartoonist Edgar P. Jacobs were stolen and sold over many years by one of his closest associates.
Since one of the suspects has died, prosecutors have now decided to return a first batch of the drawings to the foundation that is in charge of Jacobs' legacy.
"We hope this will set a precedent for everything else that has been seized," the foundation's chairman Bernard Renson told the newspaper Le Soir.
Jacobs (1904–1987) is best known for the detective series Blake & Mortimer, which was first published in September 1946, but he also contributed to the drawing of Tintin together with his colleague Hergé.
