Metallica, Slayer and Guns N' Roses were just a few of all the bands that stood on stage to pay tribute to Black Sabbath during the full-day concert "Back to the beginning", which became their farewell.

Without Sabbath, there would be no Metallica. Thanks, guys, for giving us a purpose in life, said Metallica's James Hetfield on stage, according to Reuters.

Hollywood actor Jason Momoa was present as the host and after eight hours of waiting, the main person, also the most famous band member of Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne appeared on stage. Through an opening in the stage floor, he was lifted up sitting in his black, bat-decorated throne.

"His struggle with pitch is both painful and moving", writes The Guardian's reviewer Michael Hann, who at the same time describes the farewell concert as both epic and emotional. The concert gets four out of five stars from the newspaper.

The Independent's reviewer gives it five out of five stars and describes the concert as a rapid journey through the history of the music genre.

The band gathered 40,000 fans in the football arena Villa Park outside British Birmingham. Up to 5.8 million followed the live broadcast at the same time. It became the third and probably last time that Black Sabbath performed their last concert after the farewell concerts in 1999 and 2017.

Ozzy Osbourne has had health problems with infections, pneumonia and a back injury for several years. Five years ago, the singer also said that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's and for some time now, he can no longer walk.
