"La Birgit", which will premiere at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm on January 29 next year, is described as a dream play about the world-famous opera singer.
It moves between everyday concerns such as incorrect breathing technique, the fear of catching a cold - and breaking away from tradition.
“This play is about the conflict between the sublime and the concrete,” says Björn Runge in a press release.
Birgit Nilsson is played by Marika Lagercrantz, Anna Takanen, Victoria Dyrstad and Natalie Sundelin. Other actors include Leif Andrée and Jan Mybrand, and the costumes are designed by Camilla Thulin.
Runge's play is described as a sister play to "Jussi" about Jussi Björling.
