Chelsea's Nathalie Björn was the only blue-and-yellow name included when FIFA released its nominations for the awards at the federation's own gala "The Best" on Thursday. Björn is one of 17 selected to compete for the award for women's player of the year.
Other nominees include last year's winner Aitana Bonmatí, who is one of five Barcelona players on the list. Several of England's golden heroes from this summer's European Championship, including Lauren James and Chloe Kelly, are also included.
Another nomination with a certain Swedish touch is Renée Slegers. The Dutchwoman, who led Arsenal to the Champions League title this spring, could be the women's coach of the year. As a player, Slegers represented both Djurgården and Linköping and in recent years she has coached both Limhamn Bunkeflo and Rosengård in the women's Swedish league.
The winners are voted for by national team captains, national team captains, media representatives and fans. Voting closes on November 28.
