Björn Borg's life on and off the tennis court will be made into a film. Jonas Åkerlund is directing. ”He has the gaze, the energy and the courage to tell my story in his own way”, says Björn Borg.

The legendary tennis player Björn Borg's autobiography ”Hjärtslag” was published earlier in the autumn and now it is clear that the book will be filmed by Jonas Åkerlund.

”I have lived a whole life in matches – on and off the court. Jonas wants to explore both sides, and I feel that it is the right time for it”, says Björn Borg in a statement.

In his autobiography, Björn Borg was open-hearted about his sometimes stormy private life and admitted that he had abused cocaine.

”In the book, he opened the door to his secretive inner self. Now I want to go in depth and explore everything, the truth and the lies surrounding this legend”, says Jonas Åkerlund in a statement.

It is not the first time Björn Borg becomes the subject of a feature film. In 2017, the drama ”Borg” was released with Sverrir Gudnason in the lead role. Who will play Borg in the new film, or when it will have its premiere, is not yet public.

Jonas Åkerlund is best known for his music videos, including for Madonna, Taylor Swift and Roxette. He has also made the Netflix series ”Clark”, about the criminal Clark Olofsson which mainly took place during Björn Borg's heyday in the 1970s.
