Sweden defeated Germany in the third match of the Junior World Cup. 17-year-old Viggo Björck scored two goals in the 8–1 victory. "It's good that this match wasn't so nerve-wracking," Björck said.

3–2 against Slovakia. 4–2 against Switzerland.

When Germany provided the opposition in the third match of the group stage in Minnesota, USA, Sweden's junior team took the opportunity to finish the job.

One of the architects of the victory was, once again, the team's youngest player: Viggo Björck. The Djurgården player scored two goals, as did his club teammate, Anton Frondell.

“Be reliable”

"It's good that this match wasn't so nerve-wracking. It's good to win," Björck tells SVT.

Björck has impressed so far during the tournament and was behind the turnaround against Switzerland on Sunday.

"I try to play well all over the ice, be reliable and play in both directions. There are always things to improve, but it was nice to score a goal," says Björck.

Jack Berglund (Färjestad) also scored two goals. Felix Öhrqvist (Linköping) and Liam Danielsson (Örebro) each scored one.

“Getting tougher”

The goal was guarded by Herman Liv, son of the late goalkeeping icon Stefan Liv. It was Liv's first match of the tournament, after childhood friend Love Härenstam was entrusted with the first two matches.

The group stage ends against the USA on New Year's Eve. With the victory against Germany, Sweden has secured a playoff spot.

"It will be much tougher. We will build on this and expect a good match. It will be fun," says Björck.

Quarterfinals will be played on January 2–3, semifinals on January 4–5, the bronze medal match on January 5 and the final on January 6.
