Sirius had a strong pre-season in the Swedish Cup and pushed Hammarby to a penalty shootout in the semi-finals before their cup adventure ended.

In the Allsvenskan premiere at Stora Valla, it took half a game before the Uppsala team got going.

Then it really hit home with three goals.

The first came less than a minute after the break when Bjerkebo's pass gave Neo Jönsson an open goal.

We needed to bring a little more energy; it was a little awkward at the beginning, but then we got a perfect start to the second half. Coming away from here with three points and a clean sheet is really nice, says Bjerkebo.

Then Bjerkebo scored 2–0 on a penalty in the 78th minute after Victor Svensson was tackled by Samba Diatara in the penalty area.

Just four minutes later, Robbie Ure was able to make it 3–0 after Sirius broke through the home defense.

Degerfors, who only won one home game in last year's Allsvenskan, put in a lacklustre performance and didn't create much going forward. Nahom Netabay had the best chance when he headed wide from a good position in the first half.

It looked uncertain whether there would be a premiere when Stora Valla was white on Easter morning after snowfall during the night. But the snow turned to rain and two hours before the match started, the go-ahead to play was given.
