Bitcoin is trading around just over $94,900, which is a significant decline since its peak just over a month ago (just over $124,000).
On Sunday, however, the currency traded below $93,714, which is the level at which the year began, meaning that the year's rise had been erased.
Bitcoin, the most well-known and significant cryptocurrency, experienced a strong boost in connection with President Donald Trump's victory in the US election. However, the recent decline has been largely linked to general anxiety in global markets and a decline in technology-oriented stocks linked to the AI sector, among others.
