In Friday's trading, bitcoin once again experienced a steep decline. Early on, it fell to just under $59,765. By 7:00 p.m. local time in Sweden, it had recovered to $61,443. Still, that represents a 3.7 percent loss during the day.
The latest wave of decline accelerated after billionaire Michael Saylor sold a portion of his bitcoin portfolio.
In November 2024, Donald Trump won the election, partly on a very crypto-friendly platform. In October 2025, bitcoin hit a new record, with a peak price of just over $125,000.
