Usama bin Laden's eldest son has been expelled from France, reports the news agency Efe.

Omar bin Laden, who has lived in Normandy since 2016 with his British wife, is accused of "glorifying extremism" in a statement about his late father – a statement the son claims not to be behind.

Usama bin Laden, founder of the terrorist network al-Qaida and accused of being the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks, was killed by American soldiers in Pakistan in 2011.

According to France's Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, Omar bin Laden has been banned from returning to France. In Normandy, he had started a career as an artist.
