After three years of civil war in Sudan, the need for humanitarian aid is enormous, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres is urging the world to increase its aid efforts.
A small step forward was made in Berlin on Wednesday, when international donors pledged 1.5 billion euros, equivalent to 16 billion kronor, in aid, according to the conference's host, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul.
How many people have been killed in the war is difficult to estimate; AFP describes it as "tens of thousands" while analysts have estimated that it could be over 100,000.
Large areas are suffering from famine and, according to the Red Cross, around 13 million people have been displaced.
