On Wednesday, Billie Eilish played at Avicii Arena, and on Thursday evening, it's time again. The first concert fell to the critics' taste.
"The 23-year-old jetlagged from California is the world's coolest pop star in 97 minutes", writes Aftonbladet's reviewer, who gives the performance four out of five in rating, and continues:
"She stands on stage and everyone else in Avicii Arena is her choir. It's among the most insane things I've heard and seen. No, it and much more that happens can't be captured on Instagram. You have to be there."
Expressen also gives a four in rating and notes that the first evening is as low-key as spectacular:
"In ninety-five minutes, it feels like all of us thousands in the arena are hanging out in Billie's living room and the music just happens."
Dagens Nyheter also gives the second-highest rating and notes that Eilish has the ability to dive into subcultural currents and capture timely fragments that she then packages into pop songs.
"When a roaring acid rhythm thunders out over the arena in 'Guess' and Charli XCX appears for a duet via the screen, it's precisely one of those moments that you'll eventually be able to look up in history books. Look under the heading '2020s pop stars'. Billie Eilish may be the most significant one for the future, writes the reviewer.
Svenska Dagbladet takes a slightly more critical stance and hands out a three in rating. The community in Avicii Arena is applauded, but a concert that appears a bit like a hastily added interlude receives criticism.
