The broad S&P 500 index rose 0.2 percent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.7 percent, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite index closed unchanged.
The market was held up largely by shares of chip giant Nvidia, which rose 1.3 percent.
Tesla fell after the electric car manufacturer reported a sharp decrease in the number of cars delivered during the last quarter of last year - 16 percent fewer than in the corresponding period of 2024. The stock lost 2.6 percent.
The price of crude oil fell slightly. U.S. WTI crude fell 0.3 percent to just over $57 per barrel.
