Gas prices in Europe continue to rise. They rose just over 6 percent to 35 euros per megawatt-hour on the Amsterdam Commodity Exchange, bringing the increase to 25 percent in one week. This is the biggest price increase in over two years and the highest price level since August last year.

Behind the price increases is a sharp rise in demand for heating in Europe, which has raised concerns that gas stocks will be depleted quickly and that geopolitical risks have increased.

"The mood has completely changed. You could almost call it a perfect storm," says Arne Lohmann Rasmussen, chief analyst at research firm Global Risk Management.
