Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, journalist Lauren Sánchez, will tie the knot in Venice sometime during the last days of June. The planning of the love festival has, however, been marked by protests and the couple has now decided to change the location of the wedding.
The original plan was that the future spouses would say yes to each other in a medieval former school that had been converted into a luxurious event venue. Now, it will instead take place at the Arsenal, a bit further away from central Venice, reports BBC.
Demonstrators in the city see it as an "enormous victory" that the couple and the wedding party of around 200-250 high-profile guests, including Kim Kardashian and Oprah Winfrey, are moving.
The protests were not specifically directed against the wedding, but rather against the choice of location. Venice is heavily affected by tourists and several attempts have been made to push back against mass tourism.
