Between 150 and 200 arrested at protest against Amsterdam data centre

Between 150 and 200 people have been arrested during a demonstration against a data centre in Amsterdam.

Riot police intervened on Friday at a protest against the construction of a data centre in northwest Amsterdam after demonstrators entered the site and refused to leave, Dutch news agency ANP reported.

The protesters, most of whom belong to two activist groups, were carrying tools to gain entry to the site, police said. When they refused to hand over the tools, “this led to resistance and confrontations,” police said.
