Better pace than expected for the US economy

The USA's gross national product (GNP) rose more than expected during the second quarter. According to the second calculation, the GNP increased to 3.0 percent in calculated annual rate compared to 2.8 percent at the first measurement.

Market economists had also forecast an increase of 2.8 percent according to Bloomberg's compilation. During the first quarter, the GNP rose by 1.4 percent in calculated annual rate.
