The police were alerted to the incident at 10 p.m. on Friday evening.
The woman was attacked in the forest and had taken herself to the hospital with help from those she was out with. The emergency room then contacted the police, says Tobias Höglander, hunting and game coordinator at the police, to Västerbottens-Kuriren.
After the decision was made to euthanize the bear, a search operation was launched, but without results.
The search was called off on Saturday and is not expected to resume.
