Nottingham's Igor Jesus opened the scoring in the final moments of the first half.
Before the second half, Tottenham coach Igor Tudor made two changes, including substituting Lucas Bergvall. It made little difference.
Morgan Gibbs-White extended the lead to 2–0 a little over a quarter of an hour into the second half, and Taiwo Awoniyi punctuated the match in the final minutes, making it 3–0.
Earlier this week, Bergvall made a comeback in Tottenham's Champions League match against Atletico Madrid after being injured since January 20. Bergvall is part of Graham Potter's Sweden squad for the World Cup playoff against Ukraine on March 26.
Tottenham are now in seventeenth place in the table, one point ahead of West Ham, who are in the relegation zone.
