With less than a quarter of an hour left, tempers flared. After several tough duels, Manchester United’s Luke Shaw had had enough and pushed Tottenham’s Rodrigo Bentancur to the ground. Bentancur got up and headbutted Shaw on the nose.
The result? A red card for Uruguayan Bentancur, who had replaced Swede Lucas Bergvall in Tottenham’s midfield just 12 minutes earlier, and a yellow card for Shaw.
The match? It ended 1–1.
Bryan Mbeumo gave Manchester United the lead in the 73rd minute, but Dominic Solanke equalised for “Spurs” in added time.
Both big clubs have made poor starts to the season. Manchester United are 12th with six points, while Tottenham are 18th with three points.
