Benjamin Ingrosso Leads Grammis Gala with Five Nominations

The signs suggest Benjamin Ingrosso at the Grammis Gala tonight. He has a chance at five awards – the most of all. But two female artists are snapping at his heels.

Will Benjamin Ingrosso repeat the artistic feat from P3 Gold Gala in January when he could take home all the prizes in the categories where he was nominated?

This time, five prizes are at stake, including the heavy categories of Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. But Ingrosso has tough competition, including Amanda Bergman and Becky and the Birds (Thea Gustafsson), who are nominated in four categories each.

C Gambino may receive a prize

In the Album of the Year category, he is also competing with the murdered rapper C Gambino, who is posthumously nominated for his album "In memory of some stand up guys (private collection)". The rapper was also nominated for prizes at P3 Gold Gala, which sparked a debate about whether "that type of artist" should be promoted.

One winner has already been announced: Carola Häggkvist, who will receive the Honorary Award. It is the first Grammis awarded to the artist veteran.

It came as a surprise, it's been quite a few years without a Grammis, she said to TT when the prize was announced.

Miriam Bryant sings

During the gala, a large number of artists will perform, including Miriam Bryant, Maja Francis, Sarah Klang, and Hurula. The evening's hosts are program leader Assia Dahir and actor Alexander Karim, who himself was surprised to be asked.

I thought they dialed the wrong number. I have no special knowledge of the music industry and immediately felt that I couldn't take on such a prestigious task, he said to TT in early March.

After some deliberation, he changed his mind and decided that it is now more important than ever to "hold together and show that we are there for each other".

The Grammis gala is held at Annexet in Stockholm. It will not be broadcast on TV, but will be live-streamed on Grammis' own YouTube channel.
