Belgium took the nation's second consecutive European Championship gold on Sunday after a real thriller against Spain – where they were behind for almost the entire game.
After the second quarter, Spain had gained an advantage of eight points, 37–31.
Belgium did not give up and made a small comeback in the third quarter.
Then the Spanish women decided and pulled away. With four minutes left to play, the nation was leading by twelve points, 65–53.
Then Belgium's incredible turnaround started.
The last eight point-scoring throws were all in Belgium's favor and suddenly the team had turned the final around to 67–65, a result that stood for the rest of the match.
The previous final was also won against Spain, also that time after a turnaround.
This is an even crazier turnaround. They were behind by twelve points with four minutes left. The game was basically over, says expert Nick Rajacic in SVT's broadcast.
For Sweden, the championship ended in the group stage, where, among others, Spain was present and knocked out the Swedish women.
