The bear made its way through an industrial and residential area on Tuesday morning, chasing people it encountered. Surveillance footage released by the Fukushima steel plant shows a man being chased by the bear, then attacked and knocked to the ground.

All four injured - two of whom had bite wounds - required hospital treatment, Kyodo News reports. One is reported to be seriously injured.

Last year, 13 people were killed by bears in Japan, a record. Most recently, in April of this year, another person was killed in a bear attack, and in May, a Russian man hiking a few miles west of Tokyo was injured by a bear.

However, most of the attacks have occurred in forested areas in northern Honshu.
