Elmer Andersson has strained a hip flexor and will miss the competition in Malmö this week. Alfred Mjörnheim will play in his place alongside Jacob Hölting Nilsson.
"Playing in front of a home crowd was fantastic last year, but unfortunately we cannot risk the injury getting worse," Elmer Andersson says in a statement on the volleyball association's website.
But that is not the only star absence in Malmö. It has already been announced that Olympic and world championship gold medallist David Åhman will also miss the competition. He will be replaced by Anton Andersson, who will pair with Jonatan Hellvig.
The competition in Malmö runs from July 9-12.
