New faces are set to host the show, with Deadline reporting that comedian Jimmy Carr and former rugby player Joe Marler are being considered to take over. The BBC has declined to comment on the matter.
With Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May as hosts, “Top Gear” became a phenomenon with a multi-million audience worldwide. But after Clarkson attacked a producer and was forced to leave the BBC in 2015, the trio were recruited by Prime Video, where they created the series “The Grand Tour”, which they left in 2024.
The BBC has continued to broadcast "Top Gear" with new presenters, but in 2022 the series was put on hold after a violent crash in which presenter Freddie Flintoff was seriously injured.
