The BBC has voted Chappell Roan as the artist who will make this year's big breakthrough. Over the past 12 months, she has made her way up the charts with songs that breathe synthpop and the 1980s, writes BBC, which has used a knowledgeable panel of 180 experts and musicians, including Elton John and Dua Lipa.
The 26-year-old Chappell Roan, born Kayleigh Amstutz in Missouri, released her debut album in 2023.
However, the UK is lagging a bit behind the rest of the world when it comes to Chappell Roan's greatness. Her "Good luck babe" became last year's most played song on Swedish P3, and this summer she will be performing at Way Out West in Gothenburg, as one of the big headliners.
Since the BBC started listing future star shots, names like 50 Cent, Dizzee Rascal, Lady Gaga, Frank Ocean, and Wet Leg have been pointed out as upcoming big artists.
