Midfielder Jamal Musiala has collapsed on the pitch in two pre-season games in a short period of time. After the most recent incident, against Heidenheim on Tuesday, the 23-year-old went public and said that he had suffered from "lightly treated absence seizures (absence attacks)" due to a neurological dysfunction.
"I know these look scary at first glance, but for me they are currently part of my everyday life," the German wrote on Instagram.
Now Bayern Munich says it was aware of Musiala's problems throughout last season.
The first shock came some time ago for us, and since then we have received more information and understand the situation better, coach Vincent Kompany said according to Kicker magazine.
According to the Belgian, there is an explanation for why Musiala has now collapsed twice in just four days:
He made a small change in his treatment, which caused some side effects.
Jamal Musiala will not play in Saturday's match against Dortmund in the German Super Cup.
