After 45 minutes, Real Madrid, with Filippa Angeldahl in the starting lineup, seemed to be heading for the semifinals in the Champions League. "Los Blancos" won the first meeting 2–0, and had managed to close the deal after half of the return match.
But then Arsenal stepped up. At the very least.
Dream start
41 seconds into the second half, Alessia Russo reduced the score, and three minutes later Mariona Caldentey equalized the total score with her 2–2 goal.
And the home team didn't stop there. In the 59th minute, Russo had struck again, and completed the turnaround in just 13 minutes in the second half. Moreover, the English star had two more balls in the goal, but both were ruled out for offside.
Real Madrid never managed to recover from the collapse, and the match ended 3–2, which was also the final result in the double meeting.
All Swedish players in the London team's match squad (Stina Blackstenius, Amanda Ilestedt, Rosa Kafaji) started on the bench. Only Blackstenius got to jump in, in the 90th minute. Lina Hurtig was not in the match squad.
Filippa Angeldahl was substituted out in the 76th minute.
German Swedish team eliminated
There was no dramatic turnaround for Bayern München, against French Lyon. The Swedish team was down 0–2 after the first meeting, and failed to turn the tide in the return match. Bayern is eliminated after 1–4 in the return match, and 1–6 overall.
Magdalena Eriksson and Julia Zigiotti Olme both took their places in the starting lineup, while Linda Sembrant was relegated to the bench after the loss in the first meeting where she started.
