Norwegian police were alerted to the man on Tuesday, and after almost four days he was arrested. The man had made threats, was armed and fired at least one shot at police during the operation.
Any intervention would have posed significant risks for both the police and the person themselves, says task force leader Robin Lindberg.
At three o'clock on Saturday morning, the arrest was completed.
While the man barricaded himself in the house, he was monitored by drones, neighbours were evacuated, and the area was cordoned off.
The police entered the house at a time when the risk to everyone involved was assessed as lower, says Lindberg.
