The 19-year-old occasionally showed his ability in the man-to-man game, but the crosses were few, as were the opening passes. SVT expert Mikael Lustig was one of the critics. He thought that Bardghji fumbled the ball too much.
"I have nothing to say about it, with all due respect. I don't listen to that kind of thing," says Roony Bardghji.
Listening to Potter more
He listens all the more to new national team captain Graham Potter. In Marbella they had an early chat after one of Potter's first briefings with the whole squad.
We talked about whether there was anything I didn't understand, whether something wasn't clear on his part. That was all. I said everything was clear.
Your impression of Potter so far?
Just great. You can see that he has been at the highest level. He has been in the big clubs. He is a good person and it will be fun to get to know him more.
How and to what extent Potter intends to utilize Bardghji remains to be seen.
He wants to play offensive football. The way he wants to play is clear. I think it suits me well. We will try to build something for the games that are coming now and for the games in March.
“Ready and in good shape”
"I'm ready and in good shape if the coach wants me to play. On a wing, as a striker, whatever," says Bardghji.
So far, Barcelona is satisfied with what he has achieved in the substitutions he has been given.
According to the Spanish newspaper Sport, Porto and Stuttgart have reportedly been in talks about loaning him, something Bardghji is not aware of.
That's what the media writes. But it's extremely fun and I have a good relationship with Hansi (Flick, the coach) who is an incredible coach. He and the club have confidence in me, which means a lot. The other thing I don't know. I just think it's something that's been written.
Bardghji's own words about his first time in Barcelona:
It feels extremely good. I'm developing every day and learning a lot. I've gotten a lot of playing time, so it feels extremely good. I'm patient. I've been there for three, four months, so it's still early.
The national team will face Switzerland in Geneva on Saturday for the World Cup qualifiers. The qualifiers will conclude on Tuesday against Slovenia in Solna.
