It will take some more time before Barcelona can play on the renovated Camp Nou. The Catalan football club states that they are still waiting for a permit to move back to the arena which is expected to be able to hold 105,000 spectators.

The idea was that Barcelona would have received Olympiakos in Champions League at an upgraded Camp Nou on October 21, but that will not be the case.

The arena's evacuation plan is among the things that have not yet been approved by the municipal council.

The renovation of the giant arena at a estimated cost of around 16.5 billion kronor (1.5 billion euro) began in the summer of 2023 and the plan from the beginning was that it would be reopened in November 2024 in connection with the club's 125th anniversary.

The meeting with Olympiakos will be played at the Olympic Stadium. On Wednesday, they suffered a loss to Paris Saint-Germain at the same arena.

In La Liga, the club has played two matches at Johan Cruijff stadium this season, which only accommodates around 6,000 spectators.
