Warner Bros. has made more than six offers over the past three years, but the latest has not been accepted. According to reports, the quartet is demanding higher compensation and, above all, better terms for revenue from the film.

Meanwhile, the clock is ticking: Warner Bros. has about four months to start developing a new “Barbie” movie. Otherwise, the film rights will revert to toy manufacturer Mattel, which will then have to restart the project completely without relying on director Greta Gerwig’s version.

The first “Barbie” was extremely successful, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2023 and still remains Warner Bros.’ most successful film ever.
