According to a survey of the country's 13 largest banks, Skandiabanken has the lowest average variable interest rate, at 2.59 percent, while Hypoteket and Ikano Bank offer their customers the highest variable interest rate, at 2.95 percent.
The average variable mortgage rate at banks was 2.75 percent in June, the three-year average rate fell to 3.30 percent (from 3.41 percent in May), while the five-year rate fell to 3.51 percent in June from 3.55 percent in May.
For variable interest rates, the difference between the banks corresponds to SEK 3,600 a year in extra mortgage costs for every million borrowed; for those with three-year fixed-term loans, the difference is SEK 4,600. For five-year average interest rates, the difference is close to SEK 5,000 per million borrowed.
