Seven banks account for just over 80 percent of lending to the public, but the major banks continued to lose market share during the second half of 2025, according to FI.
"Those that increased their market shares were primarily mortgage banks, but also savings banks and consumer credit companies," the authority writes.
Lending to the public increased by 0.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the same period a year earlier, versus 1.7 percent in the second quarter, according to FI.
