The fire broke out on Sunday evening at the Naladphrao pub, near the Chatuchak market area in the Thai capital.
The fire department counted at least 27 dead and over 60 injured on Monday morning. Most of the dead are women, but it is unclear how many foreigners are among them - identification is still ongoing and is now the top priority, according to Governor Chadchart Sittipunt.
He also said, according to Thai media, that it is suspected emergency exits may have been blocked - many of the guests seem to have had difficulty getting out of the dark room when it quickly filled with smoke.
