"The water keeps pouring in. It's hard to get out now. It's up to my waist," said Somkid Pheuk-ngam, a vendor who lives near a canal just north of central Bangkok.
"I can't get anywhere. I've kept my shop closed for two days now."
The city's governor says that almost 300 millimetres of rain have fallen since Thursday.
The country's meteorological authority warns that the rain will continue to fall until Sunday due to a strong low-pressure system.
