"I am truly proud to be able to present such a rich program for the Baltic Sea Festival 2026 with new Swedish works, several commissioned directly for the festival," says Staffan Becker, director of Berwaldhallen, in a press release.
During the Baltic Sea Festival, August 21–29, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra will perform under chief conductor Semyon Bychkov, with pianist Yunchan Lim and violinist Janine Jansen as soloists.
The opening concert includes the world premiere of a work by Swedish composer Molly Kien and the Swedish premiere of Anders Hillborg's "Hell Mountain".
Concluding the festival is Esa-Pekka Salonen, who will conduct a brand-new saxophone concerto by Erkki-Sven Tüür and Sibelius's epic "Kullervo".
