The first incident occurred in the tourist area of Ueno on Thursday, when a group of Japanese and Chinese citizens were loading bags into a car.
Three robbers then appeared with pepper spray and managed to escape with the bags, which contained approximately 420 million yen - equivalent to just over 24 million Swedish kronor. According to Japanese media, the money was to be delivered to a currency exchange office.
On Friday, a man was attacked with pepper spray in an airport parking garage. He was robbed of a bag containing the equivalent of approximately 11 million Swedish kronor.
Police are investigating whether there is a connection between the two incidents.
