Using pepper spray, robbers have managed to break into suitcases at various locations in Tokyo this week. The contents of the bags amounted to the equivalent of 35 million kronor in cash.

The first incident occurred in the tourist area of Ueno on Thursday, when a group of Japanese and Chinese citizens were loading bags into a car.

Three robbers then appeared with pepper spray and managed to escape with the bags, which contained approximately 420 million yen - equivalent to just over 24 million Swedish kronor. According to Japanese media, the money was to be delivered to a currency exchange office.

On Friday, a man was attacked with pepper spray in an airport parking garage. He was robbed of a bag containing the equivalent of approximately 11 million Swedish kronor.

Police are investigating whether there is a connection between the two incidents.
