When there are severe weather changes, when it flashes and thunders and you feel it in the air pressure, then it can trigger mating behavior in the crocodiles, says Nina Hedegaard at Crocodile Zoo – an animal park with a crocodile focus on the Danish island of Falster, to the news agency Ritzau.
The weather can lead to fights, but more often to mating rituals, especially at this time of year.
The Danish Meteorological Institute DMI has warned of local thunderstorms in connection with the rain, which creates completely optimal conditions for the crocodiles.
We have experienced it many times before, that the weather gets the crocodiles going.
Almost all crocodiles in the animal park enjoy the wet weather, says Nina Hedegaard.
The crocodiles are happy, even if the large ones think it's a bit chilly.
