The 31-year-old defenseman has not played ice hockey for three weeks due to injury, and on Tuesday his NHL club Minnesota Wild moved him from the regular injury list to the list of players with long-term injuries.
Brodin will therefore not travel with the rest of the team for the next four away games, against Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Boston. After that, only two home games remain, on February 7 and 9, before the league takes a break for the Four Nations tournament, where Sweden will compete against Canada, the USA, and Finland for victory.
Tre Kronor have already been hit by a significant setback. On Tuesday, national team captain Sam Hallam confirmed that injured goalkeeper star Jacob Markström will definitely miss the Four Nations tournament.
The tournament will take place from February 13 to 21.
