The film is directed by rapper René Pérez Joglar, also known as Residente, who is making his feature-film directing debut. The cast also includes Edward Norton, Javier Bardem and Viggo Mortensen. The script was written by Pérez Joglar and Oscar winner Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman).
Bad Bunny has previously appeared in supporting roles, but this will be his first starring role. Just a few weeks ago, he headlined the Super Bowl halftime show, which drew 128 million viewers.
