"I have a feeling that I have to say no. It's nothing serious but something I need to take care of," writes "Bäckis" in a text message to Gefle Dagblad.
Bäckström played SHL hockey as recently as Saturday when his Brynäs faced Djurgården in Stockholm. Late Sunday evening, it was announced that he would miss this week's national team tournament with matches against the Czech Republic (in Ängelholm), Switzerland and Finland (in Tampere).
Nicklas Bäckström has not played with Tre Kronor in eight years.
