In a press release, Vittozzi announces that instead of aiming for the World Championship in Lenzerheide in February, she will devote time and energy to trying to get rid of her back problems – all to be able to be at the top in time for the Olympic Games on home ground next winter.
"I had wished to participate this season, but when I started training again with greater intensity, my body couldn't handle the strain", she writes in the press release.
Vittozzi won the women's World Cup last season, a winter that also brought a World Championship gold and three silvers in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.
