Axfood, which operates the Willys and Hemköp stores, is recalling Garant eggs from indoor free-range hens. The recall applies to two types of 6-packs and one type of 24-pack, all with the egg code 2SE741-2 and packer number SE12.

"The fact that salmonella has been found in the farm environment is very unfortunate and something we take seriously," says Axfood's quality manager Susanna Wadegård in a press release.

On Saturday, Coop also announced that it was recalling eggs due to a salmonella risk. This concerns several different package sizes with the same egg code and packer number as above.

The supplier Stjärnägg writes on its website that salmonella was discovered in the farm environment during a routine check. "No eggs have been confirmed to be infected, but as a precautionary measure, eggs from the current producer are now being recalled."

For details on exact dates and packaging, customers are advised to contact their store.

Corrected: In a previous version, the incorrect packaging size was specified for Axfood's eggs.
